FAMILY TO FAMILY
Educational Program
Many family members describe the impact of taking this course as “life changing”
This is a free 12-week education program taught by trained family members which provides in-depth basic education and skills training for families and friends who cope with the daily issues involved when a loved one has a brain disorder. Attend with other family members in a confidential setting to learn the biology of these disorders. Learn about and gain understanding about mental illnesses as well as a clear understanding of the affects that the mental illness has on your loved one. The course discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively. The current research, treatments, medications and how to handle a crisis are also taught. Family members find comfort in knowing that they are not alone, other family members have survived similar struggles and that there is hope for recovery.

ADVOCACY
Advocacy takes place any time a person speaks out for the rights of individuals suffering from the devastating effects of mental illness, against stigma and educating the community about mental health.
Reach out…help your loved ones by advocating for a superior mental health system. NAMI members advocate for effective and timely services from local service providers.
Please consider joining us to bring the best mental health services possible for those who suffer with a mental illness.
We have learned that the mental health system cannot know our needs if we do not speak out.
