New MHRSB Staff Member
Katie Walker joined the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties team in August 2019. She completed her bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University in 2009. She has been a licensed chemical dependency counselor since 2011. In 2016, Katie completed a Master of Science in Organizational Development from Abilene Christian University.
Katie began her career at Lutheran Social Services in June 2009 as a Community Support Specialist. She was then promoted to Mental Health Case Manager a few months later. In September 2011, she was promoted to Chemical Dependency Counselor. There she provided individual and group counseling for substance use disorders. Katie worked as Director of Recovery Services in January 2017 for Coleman Professional Services. In that role, she developed a substance-use disorder case management department for the organization. She also worked in the FACT program, and criminal justice and substance use counseling fields.
Katie’s role at MHRSB focuses on providing program support, development and oversight, including strategic planning for behavioral health services in the school and specialized grant programming.
Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET)
Coleman Professional Services offers a program that enhances mental capacities for those with serious mental illness. Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET) is an Evidence-Based Practice. It helps people with schizophrenia and related cognitive disorders improve brain and cognitive development, social cognition, and increase vocational capabilities.
